Fourth Annual Sunday is Funday!

"Fourth Annual Sunday is Funday Draws More than 3,500
This year’s Sunday is Funday, which was held on August 16, proved to be another family friendly event that was enjoyed by all ages."
This was a great time! Lots of pets to adopt!

"In addition, eight teams participated in the Mayor’s Pentathlon Challenge and took part in five events which included horseshoes, Nintendo Wii bowling, cow chip tossing, a tug of war, and a five-headed race. In the end, team USIS narrowly defeated Mayor Tom Swisstack’s team."

I enjoyed watching my Cinderella Sisters perform at Sunday is Funday! They were awesome and such talented girls! Love you all!

"Sunday is Funday is sponsored and coordinated by the city of Rio Rancho Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, Rio Rancho Kiwanis, the Rio Rancho Civitan Club and Elks Lodge #2500. Any resulting proceeds, after paying expenses, benefit youth programs in Rio Rancho including scholarships for the city’s parks and recreation programs, the Rio Rancho Boys and Girls Club, the Sandoval County Juvenile Justice Program, the Sandoval County YMCA, and the Elks Lodge Boy Scouts."http://www.ci.rio-rancho.nm.us/CivicAlerts.aspx

Satisfied with the title of Mrs. Photogenic, Rio Rancho’s Nicole Bent said she enjoyed last weekend’s Mrs. New Mexico pageant.Bent, a social worker at Cielo Azul Elementary, said the pageant “was great.” She competed against 17 other contestants at the pageant, held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Southwest Albuquerque.

The competition included three phases: interview, swimsuit and evening gown.
“I was a little nervous, especially going into the interview,” she said. There were five judges — and you see them face-to-face. You talk to one judge at a time. … They asked things like why would you make a good Mrs. New Mexico, views on marriage, how important is it to represent married women in the Mrs. America contest.“I thought I did really well,” she said. “I gave a lot of good answers. I told them what I’m doing and my belief in promoting healthy relationships.”

Dena Curran, Mrs. Alamogordo, won the title of Mrs. New Mexico.

Bent will remain Mrs. Rio Rancho through 2009, representing the city in many venues; she was at the Relay for Life this weekend and plans to appear in the July 4 parade. For now, she’s content as Mrs. Photogenic, after a professional photographer judged contestants’ arrays.“That’s like the next best thing,” Bent, 28, said. Her husband of one year, Justin Bent — no, he’s not Mr. Rio Rancho — “was excited for me,” she said. “He said, ‘Yeah, you definitely had it in the bag for Mrs. Photogenic.’ I loved doing it,” she said. “The girls were really sweet.”
